                            Konarak Sun Temple is located at Konarak which is 35km away from Puri city, Odisha, India. This temple is also known as Black Pagoda. This Sun Temple was built by Raja Narasimhadeva-I of the Ganga Dynasty and dedicated to Hindu God Surya (Sun). Konarak Sun Temple is one of the best tourist destinations in Odisha. This temple is famous for archeological value and special architecture style. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Twelve pairs of decorated stone wheel are attached with this wonderful temple. Giant horses are attached with this temple such a way that God Surya himself driving this giant chariot.

Gajasimha 


                            Stone sculpture Gajasimha is located at main entrance of this temple. Gajasimha is a image of Lion upon an elephant.  

Stone Wheel of Sun Temple


                            Stone wheel of sun temple know as ‘Dharmachakra’ - Wheel of Life. Each wheel’s diameter is 9 feet. Total 24 such decorated stone wheel are attached with this temple building.

Stone made elephant sculpture is another attractive feature of this temple.
